Peru beat Canada and will play for 7th place in the 2022 Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup

The Peruvian national team showed one of their best performances and beat their similar team 3-0 Canadaembarking on the fight for 7th place in the 2022 Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup. With rounds of 25-22, 25-22 and 25-18, the Bicolor hopes to end its participation in the contest which takes place in Mexico in a good way.

A difficult game for those led by Francisco Hervás, who at the start was overtaken by the Canadian team who showed their attacking power to get a wide gap to the score on more than one occasion.

However, the pride of the national sextet was over and correcting some errors that were present, managed to reverse. In this way, Karla Ortiz led a long 25-22 but that would be the breaking point for what would be the highlight of this instance.

In the second round, the course of actions would not be so different and in conclusion the national team had to demand much more than necessary to be able to lengthen the gaps. A repeated 25-22 that would leave his intentions on track.

Already in the third and final match, Peru had no trouble putting on a show at Arena Sonora, taking a lead of up to ten points over Canada. In this aspect, the rival showed a totally different face to the hard-fought sets.

This gave ours much more comfort, which would win the contest with a resounding 25-18.

With this result, the Peruvian volleyball team will face Costa Rica this Saturday, August 27, starting at 6:00 p.m. in our country (23:00 GMT), for the 7th place in the 2022 Pan American Cup.

The Inca sextet, led by the experienced Spanish coach Francois Hervascould not reach the quarter-finals, having occupied fourth place in group A with eight points: a victory (3-0 against Costa Rica) and three defeats (1-3 against the United States, 0- 3 against the Dominican Republic and 2-3 with Puerto Rico).

For its part, the Canadian team experienced the same fate in Group B, where it barely added five units: a victory (3-0 against Nicaragua with partials of 25-10, 25-19, 25- 19) and three resounding falls (0-3 against Cuba, 0-3 against Colombia and 0-3 against Mexico).

To face Canada, Hervás will be able to count on the following volleyball players: Karla Ortiz, Ysabella Sánchez, Thaisa MC Leod, María Paulo Rodríguez, Maricarmen Guerrero, Diana de la Peña, Ginna López, Mirian Patiño, Esmeralda Sánchez, Miryec Muñoz, Shany Ayme and Aixa Vigil.
