The Galician paddler remains 62 thousandths of gold
MADRID, August 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Pablo Graña won continental silver this Saturday in the C1 200 meter event of the European Canoe-Kayak Championships taking place in Munich, thus obtaining the fifth medal for the Spanish delegation.
The Galician paddler came out on the fourth fairway in a run that went from less to more. Thus, Graña came from behind and occasionally led a final that was played out in the last meters with a “photo-finish” that elevated the Lithuanian Henrikas Zustautas to the title of European champion 62 thousandths from the Spaniard.
In this way, Pablo Graña brushed the gold and had to settle for second position. The Galician adds this medal to the World Cup gold won in Canadian waters, where he took the top step of the podium in the C4 500m with Joan Moreno, Manuel Fontán and Adrián Siero.
For his part, Diego Romero finished in fourth position in the C1 5000 event, five seconds from bronze, after a controversial action by the Italian Carlo Tacchini, who found himself on the podium after clearly hitting a buoy .
The International Federation did not change the result despite later complaints. Continental gold went to German Sebastian Brendel and silver to Hungarian representative Balázs Adolf.
