06/22/2023, Xalapa, Ver.- There Xalapa Symphony Orchestra (OSX) of the Universidad Veracruzana (UV) presents Friday, June 23 at 8:30 p.m. from Tlaqná, Cultural Center, the second act of one of the deepest, most complex and passionate works of Richard Wagner’s repertoire.
It is Tristan and Iseult with the participation of the soloists: Othalie Graham, soprano; Gabriela Flores, mezzo-soprano; Octavio Rivas and Nahúm Sáenz, tenors; Jafet Maldonado and Mariano Fernández, baritones, all under the direction of Martin Lebel, responsible for the OSX.
By 1859 Wagner had completed the music, and although the production requirements may be relatively modest, his musical demands on conductor and orchestra exceeded anything hitherto known. Desire and earthly renunciation, love and death come together in this score disputed by its musical expression.
