Williams, who had already confirmed the continuity of his other pilot Alexander Albon in 2024, He has yet to announce the name of Latifi’s replacement in the second seat.
In premier class with Williams since 2020, Latifi has never finished convincing. In 55 Grand Prix races, he has only obtained seven points, although it is true that he does not own a high-performance single-seater. His best result is seventh in Hungary in 2021, where he capitalized on a chaotic race with six DNFs.
Latifi finished 21st at the world championships in 2020, 17th in 2021 and is currently in 21st positionbehind Dutchman Nyck de Vries, a Williams reserve driver who has competed in just one Grand Prix.
Nicholas Latifi arrived at Williams at the same time as the sponsorship of the Canadian agribusiness group Sofinaowned by his father, Iranian-Canadian millionaire Michael Latifi.
The specialized press suggests that Williams could trust De Vries to replace the Canadian, but the Dutchman has also attracted interest from Alpine and AlphaTauri for 2023. Williams could also opt for American Logan Sargeant, 21, who is part of his youth academy and racing in Formula 2 this season.
