Jamal Murray of the Denver Nuggets leads the expanded Canadian basketball team.
The Canadian federation presented the list Thursday, in view of the FIBA World Cup.
The star of the new NBA champions will be joined by other players from this league, including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, of the Oklahoma City Thunder, chosen as part of the ideal team.
Nickeil Alexander-Walker of the Minnesota Timberwolves and RJ Barrett of the New York Knicks were also mentioned as members of the list. Dillon Brooks, fresh off loan to Houston from Memphis, and college basketball player of the year Zach Edey were also among the 18 selected.
The World Cup is scheduled for August 25 until September 10, by which time the squad is to be reduced to 12 members.
The group stage will take place in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia. The last leg will be based in Manila.
Canada is drawn from Group H and will face France, Lebanon and Latvia in the group stage in Jakarta.
Canadian teams can qualify directly for the 2024 Olympics if they finish in the top two among American teams. Canada is currently 15th in the FIBA rankings.
