Tulum.- A municipal police officer died this afternoon, after being shot in the face with a firearm, presumably by a man of foreign nationality.
The events took place in a jungle area, a short distance from the Tulum-Cobá highway, at kilometer 8, in front of the cenote Zazil Ha.
The officer, Cristóbal Velázquez González, 41, attended the scene after a citizen reported that a Canadian on a motorcycle had shot at a car using the 911 emergency number. he located and pursued this subject who, under still unclear circumstances, shot him in the face, causing his death on the spot.
Authorities from all three levels of government traveled to the area to search for the suspected killer, whom they managed to arrest.
Paramedics also arrived, who confirmed the death of the officer.
Through social networks, the municipal secretary for security and citizen protection reported the death of this police officer in the exercise of his duties.
