The Moroccan national team was dispatched 2-1 at the end of the match against Canada, a situation that allows them to reach the round of 16 of Qatar 2022.
This is the second time in its World Cup history that Morocco has reached the round of 16 of a World Cup, as first in the group.
Goals from Hakim Ziyech, after an error by the Canadian goalkeeper, and Youssef En-Nesyri allowed the Moroccans to take first place in the group.
Look here for the goals
Ziyech’s goal after four minutes, plus that of Youssef En-Nesyri, dismantled a Canada that equaled El Salvador’s negative record, as the only team in history to have lost their first six games in the tournament. Canada, at least, took the balm of scoring their first goal in the competition, but they couldn’t even celebrate it properly, as Nayef Aguerd scored an own goal.
Thus, the Moroccan rival in the round of 16 will leave group E, composed of: Spain, Germany, Costa Rica and Japan.
