The President of the Mexican Commercial Council, Antonio Del Vallesaid that during his meeting with President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador They expressed concern about changes to electoral laws ahead of the 2023 elections and the presidential election 2024.
At the end of the two and a half hour meeting, at the Industriales Club, Del Valle Perochena left with the president whom he accompanied to board the white Jetta he uses to travel to Mexico City.
In a brief interview, Del Valle assured that it was a good open and broad meeting with the Chief Executive where topics such as the discussions that the Mexican and American governments are having on energy and transgenic foods were discussed.
– In the electoral question, why are you concerned?, he was asked.
“If we are afraid that they are thinking of changing laws, regulations, on the eve of electoral periods as important as next year and of course 2024, which is that of the presidential succession, if we are afraid that they are thinking of making changes to the laws right now, we think that’s not ideal.”

He noted that the President’s response was that they are convinced that the laws can be improved.
“There are always spaces for improvement, and we believe there are always times and times for this to be done. We believe that in Chamber of Deputies and Senators appropriate decisions are made in the interest of all Mexicans,” he stressed.
In economic matters, he said there was confidence that the talks between the governments of Mexico and the United States would materialize in the short term, as it would dispel the doubts of many companies to invest in the country.

In the field of energy, he pointed out that President López Obrador had promised to respect the rule of law and to comply with what the SCJN or the courts decide.
