Helsinki-based Metso Outotec will move its screening equipment production from the United States to Mexico as part of a reorganization in North and Central America to expand its global supply chain.
“The company is investing in new screen media production capacity in Irapuato, Mexico to significantly increase sourcing and shipping capabilities to mining and aggregates customers in the region,” said Metso Outotec. in a press release.
Asked by BNamericas about the investment in new facilities, the company did not provide an immediate response.
Metso Outotec added that as part of the reorganization, it has decided to end its media scouting operations in Warrenton, Missouri.
According to the company, the new plant in Mexico will gradually begin operations in the first half of 2023. “Once fully operational in the third quarter, total production capacity is expected to double by 2024 from current levels,” it said. he adds.
“We will offer customers shorter lead times and faster shipments by using an optimized production site for screening products. The new plant, located near our rubber and Polymet plant in Irapuato, further strengthens Mexico’s position as a center of competence for producing high quality products. -quality consumables,” said Consumables Business Area President Heikki Metsälä.
In 2022, Metso Outotec announced that it will invest in the installation of its first polymer filter sheet production unit in Mexico.
Screening equipment production at Warrenton will be phased out until the end of 2023, the company said.
