NBA Dallas Mavericks CEO Cynt Marshall said Monday that Slovenia’s Luka Doncic is “absolutely” the best symbol of basketball’s globalization, and acknowledged it was “a blessing” to have him on the team.

“(Is Luka Doncic the best symbol of the globalization of basketball?) Absolutely. Luka is incredible and having him on our team is a blessing for us. Today we are here (Madrid), where he has really improved, many of his skills are very important for us”, greeted the president to the media after the inauguration of two new tracks in the Madrid district of Tetuán offered by the franchise.

And Marshall admitted that Doncic played a key role in this project, as well as for this Tuesday’s friendly match between the Mavericks and Real Madrid at the WiZink Center. “Luka wanted to come back here and luckily he took us with him,” he said. “Luka puts us even more in touch with this sport on a global level. We are lucky to have Luka on our team,” he reiterated.

Regarding these new tracks of the Basic Sports Facility (IDB) Rodríguez Sahagún II “Los Pinos”, in the municipality of Tetuán, Marshall insisted that “it is very important” for the franchise. “We are part of a global sport, so being able to tour internationally, in a place that means a lot to Luka, is important, because we are investing in young people, who have dreams, and in their physical, mental health and emotional,” he explained.

For his part, Canadian striker Olivier-Maxence Prosper recognized “the opportunity” to be in Madrid and present two fields in which “dreams begin” and “you are inspired to continue this sport at a high level” .

“It is very important to give back to the community for their efforts, basketball is a global sport. There are kids from all over the world who watch us and want to be like us. It is important to show love to the different parts of the world and show them that there is a way to get to where we are today.
