The leak began shortly before 6 a.m. at the intersection of René-Lévesque and De Lorimier avenues and continued steadily for approximately 45 minutes later.
Police and firefighters responded to the scene and closed some streets in the area.
In a post on the social network X, firefighters asked the population to avoid the area of Sainte-Catherine Street East and De Lorimier due to “major” flooding.
It is not yet clear what caused the breakup.
