Spanish rider Lucas Eguibar finished in third position during the Snowboard Cross World Cup event organized in Deux Alpes (France), and thus achieved his first podium of the 2023-24 season.
The native of San Sebastián, current vice-world champion, double Olympic diploma and member of the Movistar SBX team, had a great performance during the French season which led him to finish third, behind the Canadian Eliot Grondin , winner of the event. , and the Austrian Alessandro Haemmerle. The Swiss Kalle Koblet failed a few meters from the start and lost any chance of a medal.
Also taking part in the test were Spaniards Antoni Toledo, who finished 35th, one tenth from the cut; Álvaro Romero, 43rd; and Bernat Ribera, who was unable to start.
“I’m happy with today. In the finale, the one that hit me, I lost a lot of speed and I couldn’t catch up anymore. Too bad, because at the bottom I could have attacked a lot. But happy from third place. Last year I started fourth and now we start better like this. We are aiming for everything this season,” Eguibar said. The next test will take place in Cervinia (Italy) on December 15 and 16.
For her part, the Spaniard Queralt Castellet, current Olympic vice-champion, is already in Secret Garden (China), where she won her historic silver medal, to participate in the halfpipe World Cup event.
