BANGKOK — China is increasing the use of civilian vessels, such as ferries and fishing boats, for military purposes, to bolster its naval presence in disputed waters and increase its influence in the region. China’s navy is already the world’s largest by number of ships and has been rapidly building new warships as part of a vast military expansion. It launched its first domestically designed and built aircraft carrier in June and will soon be joined by five destroyers. MISSING STUDENTS IN MEXICO
MEXICO CITY – The Mexican government denounces before the Attorney General’s office a judge who acquitted more than a hundred people involved in the case of the disappearance of 43 students that occurred eight years ago in southern Mexico. The process of the disappearance of the 43 Ayotzinapa normal students took a turn last month after the Truth Commission released a new report that deemed the case a ‘state crime’ after acknowledging responsibility for the three levels of government, including elements of the military. 510 words.
