The young representatives of the Lima region were sworn in, on Wednesday 26, during the first Regional Plenary of the Young Parliament program, 2023 edition, of the Citizen Participation Office of the Congress of the Republic.
During the opening ceremony, the participants received official greetings from Karina Beteta Rubianes, head of the Office of Citizen Participation, who congratulated the participants for their interest in participating in the program.
“It is an important and enriching experience for all of you and for those who have the desire to actively participate in politics,” he said.
He said it was a successful call in which 6,838 young people from all over Peru participated, in addition to Brazil, Spain, Ukraine, Canada, Malaysia, Argentina, France, Germany and the United States.
He added that young people from indigenous peoples and people with disabilities also participated.
Beteta Rubianes explained that 29 plenary sessions will be held in a decentralized manner.
“What we are looking for is that they can learn about parliamentary work. After passing their exams, we considered having three Lima groups and from these select the elected officials who will represent us at the national plenary where young people from all regions will be present,” he said.
