Light and water returned to Kyiv after Russian attacks | New web log

The inhabitants of Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital, recovered their water and electricity services on Tuesday, the day after the Russian attacks which caused massive cuts. The news was announced by the Ukrainian capital’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, who said the water and electricity supply “has been fully restored”.

In recent hours, Ukraine reported that Russian forces had carried out a “massive attack” on energy installations in various parts of the country, while explosions were heard in the capital Kyiv and large areas were left without electricity or water. As a result, they had left 80% of the city’s inhabitants without water and 350,000 homes without electricity.

Still, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said some scheduled power cuts would persist in the city “due to the huge deficit in the electrical system after the aggressor’s savage attacks”, news agencies AFP and Europa reported. Press.

Russian attacks on Ukraine

The attacks come two days after the Russian government exposed an attack on its fleet in Crimea led by Ukraine with Canadian technology and apparently fired from a ship that was to perform grain transfer duties. The Ukrainian military reported that Russia launched 55 cruise missiles and dozens of other projectiles across the country.

The wave of missiles on the 250th day of the conflict descended on some of the main Ukrainian cities, such as kyiv and Kharkov, as well as Zaporizhia, Dnipro and Odessa, among others.

Presidential adviser Oleksii Arestovich on Tuesday described the attack as “one of the most massive bombardments on our territory launched by the army of the Russian Federation”, but stressed that thanks to improved air defenses, including including the Western aid received, “the destruction was not as critical as it could have been.”

Additionally, Ukraine says Russian bombings last month destroyed about a third of its power plants and urged people to save electricity as much as possible.
