Kevin Kiermaier makes it clear what the Blue Jays are capable of

Although the main players in toronto blue jays like the Dominican-Canadian Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette, George Springer and Alek Manoah remains after that disappointment of missing last year in the Wild Card series, the front office has revamped the roster.

Outfielder Kevin Kiermaier, a longtime enemy of the division during his years with the Tampa Bay Rays, was one of many veterans to join Toronto in free agency, along with starter Chris Bassitt and first baseman Brandon Belt. The team also traded for OF Daulton Varsho and reliever Erik Swanson.

The Blue Jays will likely spend the summer battling the New York Yankees for division supremacy. It was the Yankees who gave their opinion early last year, jumping out the door in April en route to 99 wins and a searing divisional crown. Kiermaier wants the Blue Jays to be the team that sends a first message this season by taking immediate control of the AL East.

“I would love to set the tone and go out there and try to win the division,” he told reporter Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun. “We’re trying to take the next step. Everyone knows (winning the division) is important. That’s the goal.”

We have to let our game do the talking. These guys have always had high expectations, but let’s do something different this year and really scare the teams. We are playing for October and we want the division.”

I’m a King of Sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox in MLB, and all Mexican baseball in general. This job gave me the opportunity to cover major events such as the Caribbean Series, LMB All Star, LMP (continuous since 2009), signings of important players. I was lucky enough to attend the 2013 World Classic in Arizona, USA, but as an amateur. Apart from this beautiful sport, I love basketball, where I also narrated games and even an NBA friendly game 10 years ago, but baseball is in my veins. Graduated in Communication Sciences from the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS), from where I graduated in 2011. I was born in Mazatlán, Sinaloa and I started in the world of sports journalism in 2004 in the newspaper El Sol from Mazatlán, where I was a baseball columnist and journalist at the same time. In January 2009 I arrived in El Debate as a journalist reporter and it took almost six years (in the first stage), until November 2014 I emigrated to radio, offering my services to Línea Directa- RSN Group. My cycle there ended in July 2019 and a few days later El Debate gave me another opportunity to work and opened the doors for me again. This is how I came to Al Bat, where I have been since 2019 as a web journalist.
