Las Vegas (United States), April 20 (EFE).- Singer Karol G became the most awarded artist of the Latin American Music Awards 2023 (Latin AMA), in a ceremony that shone for his tributes.
The 32-year-old Colombian received eight awards, including Best Artist, Tour of the Year, Best Pop Song and Best Urban Artist, among others.
Despite being the big protagonist of the evening, the interpreter of “Tusa” was conspicuous by his absence, leaving Becky G, the second most recognized, to receive the applause of her colleagues and the public who attended the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas (Snowfall).
The Mexican-American singer received four accolades, of which she shared three with Karol G for their collaboration “MAMIII”, which was chosen as the song of the year, the collaboration of the year and the best urban collaboration.
“I don’t know how many ‘MAMIII’ awards have won, but each means something stronger than us. Women still in power! Together we are more!” Becky G assured from the stage.
Bad Bunny was the big promise of the night as he was the most nominated artist, but the reggaeton player only managed to take home the awards for Best Album of the Year, Best Urban Album and Best Song urban, all from his latest album. , “A summer without you”.
The Spanish Rosalía was crowned with the distinctions of the best pop album for her album “Motomami” and the crossover collaboration of the year for the song “La fama”, with the Canadian The Weeknd.

AGUILAR, VIVES, BISBAL AND ROYCE, A NIGHT OF TRIBUTE
The gala was characterized by tributes paid to Pepe Aguilar, Carlos Vives, David Bisbal and Prince Royce, who had the opportunity to sing their most emblematic songs with their colleagues from the guild.
“30 years ago, music showed me two paths: copy the hit genres of the moment or transform the music of my country and feel proud to be Colombian,” Vives said after receiving the Legend award.
The same award was received by Aguilar from his daughter Ángela, who welcomed the singer on stage with compliments, being one of the most moving moments of the night.
“It’s something I don’t feel like I deserve because the only thing I did was follow my heart and my passion,” the performer said.
After receiving the Pioneer accolade, Bisbal highlighted the great inspiration that Latin singers such as Ricky Martin and Chayanne had been in his career.
“When I had the opportunity to record my first album, it occurred to me to merge it with the roots of Almería, Andalusia and Spain, and to this day I don’t I kept doing it,” he said proudly.
The ceremony also included performances by Anuel AA, Emilia, Carin León, Manuel Turizo, Natti Natasha, Justin Quiles, Myke Towers and Ángela Aguilar, among others.
This is the first time the Latin AMAs have been broadcast on the Univisión television network, after seven years of broadcasting by Telemundo, and it is the second edition that is broadcast from Las Vegas.
