Joe Trohman returns to Fall Out Boy after sanity hiatus

The fans of Fall out Boy they can breathe easily. Joe Trohmanthe guitarist and original member of the group, announced his official return after a hiatus of several months for mental health reasons.

Trohman communicated this via his Instagram account last Sunday (May 29), thanking his followers and colleagues for their support during his absence.

Hey everyone, I’m officially back! I want to thank everyone for the love and support as I took time to focus on my brain and get healthy for my family, friends and myself,” he wrote in the post, which also included a photo of him on stage.

“I would also like to thank Ben Young for stepping up and covering the gigs I missed,” he added. “So excited to be back in action and can’t wait to see you all on tour this summer!”

a difficult decision

Trohman announced his temporary departure from the group in January, confirming to his fans that he would be parting ways with Peter Wentz and company because his mental health had “deteriorated rapidly” in recent years.

Neil Young used to scream that it was better to burn than to go out. But I can tell you unequivocally that getting burned is scary. Without revealing all the details, I must disclose that my mental health has deteriorated rapidly over the past few years,” he wrote.

“So to avoid disappearing and never coming back, I’m taking a break from my work, which unfortunately means stepping away from Fall Out Boy for a while,” he added. “It hurts me to make this decision, especially when we’re releasing a new album that fills me with great pride (the sin I’m most proud of).”

A new album and a world tour

Trohman’s hiatus coincided with the release of Fall Out Boy’s eighth studio album, So much (for) stardust, released in March under the labels Fueled by Ramen and Elektra. This is the band’s first album since Mania2018.

The album received positive reviews from the specialized press and reached number 4 on the Billboard 200 list. Among its songs stand out the singles The last of the real, Church And the Phoenix.

To celebrate the album, Fall Out Boy embarked on a world tour that will take them to several countries in North America and Europe. The group is supported by bring me The Horizon on US and Canadian broadcasts, and with PVRIS among Europeans.
