The Canadian Embassy in Cuba has published the results of the visit of Canadian businessmen to the island on the occasion of the Havana International Fair.
According to reports, within the framework of FIHAV 2022, several million dollar agreements were signed in the field of transport, as well as one directly related to the remittance of funds to Cuba through the new company established in the country.
The diplomatic headquarters in Havana reported that “in the Canadian pavilion, the Canadian company Terracam signed a contract for the supply of transport parts for 10 million dollars with the Cuban company Transimport”.
Likewise, this company signed another agreement during the capital fair, but this time with the company Cubana Divep. The amount of the contract was half a million dollars “for the purchase of rebuilt trucks in Canada”.
Created in 2020 and authorized to process remittances to Cuba since February 2022, Orbit SA was little known on the island. However, in recent days, he has already performed with the Miami-based agency, VaCuba and now another Canadian joins him.
According to that country’s embassy in Cuba, “the Canadian company rebus pay also signed a contract with Orbit SA for the creation of a digital wallet that could be used for remittances. On this subject, no further details were provided.
But, not only in the areas of transport and remittances, agreements have been negotiated between Cuba and Canada.
According to reports on social networks, the Canadian company La Route and the Cuban Producciones Abdala have agreed on a strategic alliance to organize and provide music and entertainment services.
The Canadian Embassy said it was “satisfied with the results obtained at FIHAV 2022, an event that allowed good exchanges between the Canadian business community and the Cuban public and private sectors”.
We can only hope that the million-dollar contracts translate into tangible results for the Cuban population, plunged into an unprecedented crisis.
