CF Montreal And Inter Miami CF They have just completed a major player exchange, before the 8th day of MLS 2023.
Montreal adds midfielder Bryce Duke and the Costa Rican international Ariel Lassiterwhile the Canadian central defender Kamal Miller will join the Inter Miami CF team. The South Florida club also sent $1.3 million in general allocation funds for the defender's transfer.
Both clubs will retain a percentage of the hypothetical future sales of their former players.
Miller represented Canada at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, in addition to being called up to the MLS All-Star Game last year. The 25-year-old could play in the center of the backline alongside Ukrainian Sergii Kryvtsov, who arrived this winter from Shakhtar Donetsk. Miller is in his fifth season in MLS, having played nearly 90 games for Orlando City SC and CF Montreal.
“Kamal is an exceptional defender who is entering the prime of his career,” said Inter Miami sporting director Chris Henderson. “He has improved every year during his career and has become one of the best players in the league at his position.”
Duke (22) and Lassiter (28) should give Montreal options on the offensive end, after the Canadian club managed to score just three goals in their first six games of the season under the direction of coach Hernán Losada.
Duke has 1 goal and 11 assists in 61 games with LAFC and Inter Miami. Lassiter has 8 goals and 6 assists in 97 appearances with the LA Galaxy, Houston Dynamo and Inter Miami.
“We are very happy with the arrival of these two players,” declared Olivier Renard, vice-president of CF Montreal. “We have been discussing Bryce with Miami for a while. He is an intelligent player on the pitch, with good technique and quality passing. He is a modern player who will show creativity.”
“Ariel is a versatile player, with good speed and the ability to score goals. He can also play as a striker and will help us offensively.”
