FC Montreal And InterMiami CF They have just completed a major player swap, ahead of matchday eight of MLS 2023.
Montreal integrates the midfield Bryce Duke and the Costa Rican international Ariel Lasiterwhile the Canadian central defender kamal miller will join the team of Inter Miami CF. The South Florida club also sent $1.3 million in general allocation funds for the defender’s pass.
Both clubs will retain a percentage of the hypothetical future sales of their former players.
Miller represented Canada at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, as well as being called up to the MLS All-Star Game last year. The 25-year-old could play center back alongside Ukraine’s Sergii Kryvtsov, who arrived this winter from Shakhtar Donetsk. Miller is in his fifth season in MLS, having played nearly 90 games with Orlando City SC and CF Montreal.
“Kamal is an exceptional defender who is reaching the pinnacle of his career,” said Chris Henderson, sporting director of Inter Miami. “He improved every year of his career and became one of the best players in the league in his position.”
Duke (22) and Lassiter (28) should give Montreal options on the attacking side, after the Canadian club scored just three goals in their first six games of the season under coach Hernán Losada.
Duke has 1 goal and 11 assists in 61 games with LAFC and Inter Miami. Lassiter has 8 goals and 6 assists in 97 appearances for LA Galaxy, Houston Dynamo and Inter Miami.
“We are very happy with the arrival of these two players,” said Olivier Renard, vice-president of CF Montreal. “We’ve been talking with Miami for a while about Bryce. He’s a smart player on the court, with good coaching and quality passing. He’s a modern player who will bring creativity.”
“Ariel is a versatile player, with good speed and good scoring ability. He can also play as a striker and will help us in attack.”
