Tehran. Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson said today that the recent discovery of new mass graves of “innocent” indigenous children in Canada is evidence of a “great human tragedy” that can only be described as ” genocide”.

Making the comment in a statement posted on the ministry’s website, Nasser Kanaani criticized the Canadian government’s reluctance to provide sufficient and transparent information about the graves, saying it is indicative of the depth of the “humanitarian disaster” and evocative of the “crimes” committed. during “oppressive and racist” British rule in Canada.

The ‘horrendous’ crime committed in a country whose government has always tried to present itself as a defender of human rights by making ‘misleading and hypocritical’ displays and making curious comments about events in other states , he added.

On Wednesday, Williams Lake First Nation announced at a news conference that a team of investigators had found 66 more potential unmarked graves at a former boarding school in British Columbia.

With the new discovery, 159 graves have been discovered so far in the former Mission Saint-Joseph boarding school, including 93 discovered in May 2021.
