The Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marques, reported that in 2022 the arrival of 20 million 601 thousand international tourists by air in our country according to their nationality was registered, which represents an increase of 46.3% compared to what was registered in 2021.
The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) pointed out that, according to information from the Migration Policy Unit-Registration and Identity of Persons of the Ministry of Interior (Segob), this figure also exceeds the arrivals recorded in 2019with 8.2%, while 19 million 39 thousand international tourists were registered.
In a statement, the Secretariat said that top countries in international tourist arrivals air route to Mexico from January to December 2022, were United States, Canada and Colombia, with 15 million 620,000 tourists; this is 39.5% more than in 2021, and also exceeding the 13 million 424,000 tourists of 2019 by 16.4%.
Torruco Marqués pointed out that in 2022 the the arrival of American tourists by air reached 13 million thousand touristswhich is 27% more than in 2021, when 10 million 240,000 tourists arrived, also exceeding 2019 arrivals by 23.7%, which were 10 million 511,000 tourists.
