Huawei successfully finalizes its eighth edition of Seeds for the Future in Costa Rica

San José, November 17 (elmundo.cr) – With the participation of university entities in the country, Huawei successfully concludes its eighth edition of the Semillas para el Futuro program in Costa Rica with an awards and certification ceremony, where the efforts of these 9 participating students.

Zoe Vega, a photography and computer science student at Universidad Latina, won first place, after evaluating academic performance, participation and teamwork in Costa Rica.

According to Vega, “participating in Seeds for the Future was an unforgettable academic experience. I learned about the most advanced technologies, they offered me unique opportunities and the cultural exchange was enriching. Meeting people from all over the world has broadened my perspectives and inspired me to continue learning and growing. Thanks to this competition, my horizon has broadened in unimaginable ways. This is a breakthrough in my career and learning for which I greatly appreciate Huawei.

In addition to classes taught by Huawei experts in China and local experts in the region, Costa Rican students participated in the development of a project within the Huawei Global Program. Tech4Goodhis project entitled Morpho Previews This is an incentive to seek to carry out an analysis of banana plantations for large exporters located in the Caribbean zone of the country.

For this, drones equipped with RGB sensors with spectral and LIDAR technology will be used; to monitor and obtain data on these plantations.

Which will be uploaded to a cloud where the databases are compared with artificial intelligence (AI). With information on healthy and damaged fruits, in order to predict possible diseases and fungi.

AI will be used to predict which sectors of the plantations are affected, which could get sick and which are 100% healthy. With this information, an application will be created to generate results to provide the grower with a map with detailed information about the crop. and its prediction.

Seeds for the Future of Central America and the Caribbean took place for the second consecutive year in the region and its 2023 edition was held in San José, Costa Rica.
