The mayor of Guadalajara, Ana Guarinos, and the security adviser, Chema Antón, received Daniel Barchino and Jorge Serrano, podiums at the Police and Fire Olympics, who came accompanied by the chief of the fire department of the Town Hall, Ignacio Jimeno.
Jorge Serrano and Daniel Barchino, members of the Guadalajara Fire Department, participated last July in Canada in the World Police and Fire Games, also known as the Police and Fire Olympics.
This is a competition that takes place every two years and in which security forces and organizations and firefighters from all over the world meet.
In this year’s edition, the two firefighters from Guadalajara emerged victorious. Jorge Serrano, who has already participated in six editions, won the silver medal in the TCA team event. Daniel Barchino, this is the second time he has participated, winning gold in the individual TCA.
The mayor and the councilor expressed their satisfaction with the results obtained in certain events which can last about 10 hours and in which they participate in different disciplines: swimming, shot put, speed, rope climbing, bench hold, American track and traction . -UPS. Likewise, they were proud of the level of the firefighters of Guadalajara and of having managed to bring the name of the city of Guadalajara to the top.
Preparing for this type of competition involves strict and permanent daily training in tests very similar to those that must be prepared to gain access to firefighters. These tests are a motivation to train daily and stay in shape, because we are faced with a job that requires being in top physical shape and constant preparation. And both cover all the costs of the trips and competitions they go to.
In principle, the next test of this nature would take place in the United States, in the city of Birmingham, Alabama. Regarding the upcoming competitions, the closest is the European competition of Torrevieja, which will take place next October in the city of Alicante.
