Goodbye and thank you dear Dr. Betty Jones!

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the sad news of the passing of our dear Dr. Betty Jones, honorary chairman and co-founder of the Foundation for Kids Californias / Hospital Children of Californias, IBP. and founder of the Californias Children’s Foundation on Friday, August 12 of this year.

From the depths, we express all our love and condolences to his family at this time of feeling and pain, and we become co-participants in honoring his memory and his great contribution to society and, to the kids especially.

dr. Betty crossed the borders of Alberta Canada, where he was born and did his primary education, which he concluded with a degree in nutrition, to then obtain a master’s degree in public health and a doctorate in pediatric nutrition in San Diego, in California, which helped him take care of his health and nutrition kids most vulnerable in the Tijuana-San Diego area.

He worked with the Mexican pediatric surgeon, Dr. Gabriel Chong King and other health professionals, to develop the project and build the solid foundations of the first pediatric specialty center in the Baja California region, in 1994, the Hospital California children.

Always an optimistic and dedicated woman, she went door-to-door in the United States, Canada and Mexico to pave the way for fundraisers and secure major donations to benefit the kidssince as she said: “For my part, I don’t think I could ask for a penny, but for the kids I’m pretty cheeky.”

As a professional, he was a specialist and persistent in finding ways to promote programs to develop good health in babies and kids, all based on the field of nutrition. On both sides of the border, to talk about breastfeeding is to talk about Dr. Elizabeth Jones, who defined breast milk as an incredibly valuable human resource and therefore consistently passed it on to her fellow healthcare professionals and his parents.

Those of us who have shared moments of life and work with her have had the chance to meet a woman with an endearing character, an altruistic spirit and a natural talent for attracting the best and the most positive to the project whose she was dreaming. Dr. Gabriel Chong King, Founding President, inseparable companion, expresses: Betty she is for us a soul with a mission, a tireless motor, she is contagious volunteerism, she is perseverance, a positive and pure attitude, empathy and charity walking together, her life is exemplary, it is a lesson of honesty and affection, a code of conduct that we will make ours in your dearest Hospital“.

Dr Jones did not like the adulation, saying the multiple accolades she has received throughout her extraordinary and long history of support kidswere thanks to the great team of collaborators who have been in the different stages of growth and development of the Hospital California children.

His legacy lives on in the work of the extraordinary group of professionals who work every day to serve what kids of our region. Betty Jones was a proud Canadian, born and raised in my hometown of Calgary, Alberta. He held a special place in our hearts and inspired us with his ingenuity and dedication. His ability to generate enthusiasm to help kids that they needed medical attention was a direct reflection of how much she cared about her. Betty she touched many of us and has always been engaged and involved in the Canadian Council. He kept us informed of all the news of the Hospitalfrom new Canadian maple leaf coffee mugs in the cafeteria, to a new dental center and a new swing set in the playground. Betty she was always genuine, kind and focused on the kidsThe kids who applauded and became animated when he received them at the hospitalShe will be greatly missed by them and so will we.”

His enormous legacy will live on in each of the kids who have seen their health improve and those whom we will serve in the future. Moreover, her work will live on in those patients who are now healthy and productive adults, who today, in grateful tones, say, “She was my doctor“.
