The president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obradorrecognized in his bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeauthat the two countries are working on solve his ddifferences in the electrical sector.
In his first message in a room at the National Palace, López Obrador made a commitment to Trudeau to receive Canadian companies in the electricity sector, in addition to his Government he is always open to dialogue.
We talked about companies that operate in the electricity sector. We also seek to resolve the problems, the differences, which logically arise in these economic and commercial relations and also in times of prosperity, because the Canadian investment in Mexico,” he said.
“Obviously, there are problems to be solved, I made a commitment with Trudeau to receive companies that may have outstanding problems, some disagreement with the attitude of our government, we are always open to dialogue” , did he declare.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau assured in his speech that the relations between Mexico and Canada are very deep and that the bilateral alliance brings prosperity to North America.

We have seen in recent years a real deepening and expansion of many economic and commercial relations and ties, but also of work, of investment, of commitments all over the world,” he said.

Trudeau and López Obrador began their bilateral meeting where they are expected to address criticism of Mexico’s energy policy, the treatment of Canadian mining companies and trade disagreements.
Before arriving in the Mexican capital, the Canadian Prime Minister told the press that he would discuss with López Obrador the disagreements in the treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada (USMCA).
Canada and the United States began formal consultations in the T-MEC last year on Mexico’s energy policy, which they say favors state-owned enterprises over private investment.
Another possible conflict issue is the Mexican government’s treatment of Canadian mining companies, which López Obrador has criticized for non-payment of taxes, environmental damage and impact on indigenous communities.
On matters of coincidence, Trudeau and López Obrador signed pledges to promote the rights of indigenous peoples.
