Canadian health agencies have raised to six the number of people who have died following a salmonella outbreak linked to two brands of melons from Mexico, international media report.

Through a press release, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) indicated that the consumption of fruits contaminated by said bacteria forced 53 people to enter hospitals across the country.
According to health authorities, 153 cases of salmonella have been recorded, the majority of those affected being under 5 years old or over 65 years old, details the information.
