During a session of the Standing Committee, the legislators approved by 23 votes in favor, 12 against and one abstention, the proposal of the federal executive to appoint Carlos Manuel Joaquín González, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mexico to Canada.
After its ratification, the Chairman of the Board, Deputy Santiago Creel Miranda, swore in Carlos Manuel Joaquín González, as Mexico’s Ambassador to Canada.
In justifying the opinion, the President of the Second Committee, Senator Beatriz Paredes Rangel (PRI) considered that Canada is a world hydraulic power, therefore its contribution to the environment and climate change is substantial.
Likewise, he indicated that the presence of a solid and professional Mexican embassy in Canada is fundamental for the growth of our relations.
It was the deputy Mariana Gómez del Campo Gurza (PAN) who underlined her position against, stating that “we are not in favor and we will never be in favor of the awarding of these prizes or consolation prizes, it must be said with all his letters to surrender, to the President of the Republic We are not in favor of blind loyalty.
For the deputy Ana Laura Huerta Valdovinos (PVEM), Carlos Manuel Joaquín González has proven experience and sufficient capacity to represent Mexico with dignity in Canada, as well as to take advantage of all the windows of opportunity that our country has with the T- MEC in different materials.
