A 28-year-old Colombian who traveled to Canada with the dream of learning English has been found dead almost two months after he disappeared. This is Óscar David Reyes, father of an 8-year-old girl, whose body was found in the Capilano River.
According to Blu Radio, Óscar arrived in Vancouver on December 8, 2023 and the next day he left his hotel at 5:00 a.m. His suitcase was found intact in a nearby forest, leading Canadian authorities to believe it was a voluntary disappearance. However, this hypothesis faded with the discovery of his body.
January 3, 2024police found the Colombian's body in the Capilano River and requested a DNA test to confirm the identity. Thanks to the collaboration of a paternal uncle who lives in Canada, it was possible to verify that it was Óscar.
Óscar's father, through Facebook, expressed his pain and gratitude to God for finding his son. He also thanked his wife, son Tomás, family and friends for their support and prayers during this difficult time.
“After days of uncertainty, we want to share that our son is resting today in the arms of God the Father. We first give praise and thanks to God because He allowed us to find him, thanks to my wife, my son Tomás, our family and our friends who supported us in prayer during this time,” said Jaime Gustavo Reyes , Oscar's father.
“Today is a sad day for humans, but we celebrate life after death. We are grateful to our beloved Jesus Christ, who allowed us to share 28 years with Óscar David and who left our hearts full of love and teachings. We ask that you pray for strength for our entire family, especially his parents, daughter and brother. Today there is a loss of the body, but we also know that it is in the hands of our Lord Jesus Christ. We also ask for caution at this time.” » added the victim's father.
The causes of the death of the young Colombian are still unknown. The family and authorities are working to repatriate the young man's body to Colombia.
