The presidential candidate of the Citizen Revolution movement (RC), Luisa Gonzalezwhich won the first electoral round with 33.62% of the vote, announced that the political formation had asked the National Electoral Council (CNE) to repeat the vote Ecuadorian migrants abroad, due to technical failures in the system of telematic voting Sunday August 20.
González raised the issue during a virtual meeting with RC activists, held on Tuesday evening, whom he thanked for their support.
“We have made requests to the CNE to repeat the telematic vote abroad”declared the candidate who will face Daniel Noboa, of the National Democratic Action (ADN) alliance, in the second round.
The presidential candidate condemned that problems with the telematic voting system prevented several Ecuadorian migrants from voting.
“We are fighting your right to vote”González pointed out in front of almost a thousand connected supporters from different sectors of the country and other countries, during a videoconference broadcast on the candidate’s social networks.
In the virtual conversation reiterated his campaign promises to fight insecurity, declaring urgency to the sector invest $500 million. Also declare a health sector emergency. Intervene in education and recover millennium schools, generate sources of employment, promote public works and implement youth-oriented projects. And he said the human rights that will be protected first are those of citizens looking to get out onto the streets safely.
On election day, hundreds of migrants took to social media to denounce problems on the platform of the National Electoral Council.
During the night, the president of the CNE, Diana Atamaint, confirmed that the telematic voting system had suffered cyberattacks from seven countries: India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Russia, Ukraine, Indonesia and the China. The problems mainly concerned citizens residing in Spain and Italy.
Of the 409,250 people qualified to vote, only 123,851 registered. Of this total, only 51.5623 could vote.
Atamaint ensured that votes that could be logged were not violated.
According to data available at the CNE, until 11:25 p.m. on Tuesday, the votes for the dignity of president in the constituency of Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa placed Luisa González with 31.75% and Daniel Noboa with 14.6% . In Europe, Oceania and Asia, González has 39.48% and Noboa 11.43%. In Canada and the United States, González covers 29.41% and Noboa 11.51%. (YO)
