Members of the Foreign Relations Committee, chaired by Deputy María Del Carmen Alva Prieto (AP), congratulated the leadership of Foreign Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi Díaz, responsible for informing the international community of the coup d’etat in former President Pedro Castle and its aftermath.
In fact, the working group heard from the Minister of Foreign Affairs regarding the actions that the diplomatic missions of Peru have developed abroad in relation to the political and social situation in our country, from December 7, 2022 to date.
Congressman Diego Bazán Calderón (Avanza País) supported the leadership of Gervasi Díaz for the correct actions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and asked that the actions of the Colombian president be evaluated, as was the case with Mexico, due of its interference in the internal affairs of a country.
In the same vein, Congressman Juan Carlos Lizarzaburu Lizarzaburu (Popular Force) praised and commended the Chancellor’s handling of a disinformation campaign that exists.
Deputy Ernesto Bustamante Donayre (FP) did not comment on the case and asked why Peru was interested in having relations with a fictitious republic such as the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.
The Minister stressed that this is a decolonization issue that must be resolved within the framework of the United Nations General Assembly.
However, the legislator Silvana Robles Araujo (Free Peru) felt that an isolationist policy was applied and asked if the same policy with Mexico and Colombia will be applied against the Papal Nuncio, the United States and the United Nations.
