A few weeks ago, the controversy arose because Motagua officially presented Escalante as their new player, but the Cavalry released a statement stating that the Honduran still had a contract with them.
Now it is confirmed that Jose Escalante will play the 2023 National League Apertura tournament with the Eagles.
“Cavalry FC have accepted the transfer of José Escalante to FC Motagua of Honduras,” the statement from the North American club read.
Escalante finally arrives at Motagua on loan and according to the statement, the player continues to belong to the Cavalry until 2024.
“The Cavalry retains exclusive rights to Escalante until the end of the 2024 Canadian Premier League season,” they added in the statement.
Faced with this news, José Escalante reacted on social networks and displayed his happiness because he will play with Motagua.
“New challenge with great enthusiasm. Thank you Motagua for this opportunity to follow my dream with my family,” Escalante wrote along with photos of his presentation with the blue cyclone.
He also posted another message on Twitter thanking Canada’s Cavalry FC for so much joy.
“Thank you Cavalry FC for an incredible five years, half my heart remains with Calvary,” he posted.
