Caudete is finalizing preparations for the sixth edition of the International Biennial of New Techniques, Concepts and #Evolutions in Watercolor, an event that will take place on October 28.
The recent presentation of the activity program, with up to 12 master classes by the eight guest artists and two collective painting sessions, was the last step in the preparation process. Previously, the full list of 67 selected artists was announced, among some 300 works presented, to be part of the main exhibition, which can be seen during the celebration of the event at the Casa de la Cultura in Caudete.
The composition of this list is a good example of the interest that the Caudetano competition arouses among watercolor artists all over the world. More specifically, 32 nationalities will be represented, with painters from Spain, Germany, Belarus, Italy, Russia, Israel, Portugal, Thailand, Turkey, Australia, Chile, France, Iran, Uruguay, Greece, Argentina, Netherlands, Mexico, Peru, Japan, Ecuador, Belgium, South Korea, Bangladesh, Slovakia, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Macedonia North, Ukraine, United Kingdom and Canada.
The inauguration of this exhibition will take place on the 28th after the opening ceremony, convened at 8:30 p.m., during which the winners of the three Biennale medals will be announced (chosen by the same jury that made the previous selection). The exhibition will then move to the exhibition hall of the Auditorium and Mediterranean Cultural Center of La Nucía (Alicante) and a catalog will also be published with all the participating works.
It will not be the only exhibition visible these days in Caudete, since that same day, at 7:30 p.m., the exhibition of the guest country of this edition, India, will be inaugurated in the cloister of the Convento del Carmen. The works of about twenty watercolorists from the Asian country will be installed there, while the Maison de la Culture will also house the exhibition of the watercolor book competition (artists’ books) and it is planned that an exhibition for children is organized for the first time.
As for the eight artists invited to carry out the activities, this time they will be the Spaniards Cesc Farré, Emilio Cárdenas and Miguel Ruiz; Italian Angelo Gorlini; Ghanaian Jonatahn Kwegyir Aggrey; the Peruvian Jorge Corpuna; Korean Mimi Jeongmi Young and Serbian Sasa Marjanovic. They will all participate in master class scheduled at different times on weekends in the cloister of the Convento del Carmen, for which registration is now open to the general public, after the end of the deadline for participants in the Biennale.
The event seeks to continue the legacy of the master watercolorist Rafael Requena, who died in 2003. It is organized by the Art Workshop of Villa de Caudete and the Town Hall, with the collaboration of the Provincial Council, of Albacete Cultural and the Globalcaja Foundation.
