Canadian soldiers took part in attacks against the Houthis in Yemen

Toronto.- Canadian soldiers participated in the attacks launched this morning by the United States and the United Kingdom against military positions of the Houthi rebels in Yemenconfirmed the government of Canada.

Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly and Defense Minister Bill Blair said in a statement that “Canadian Armed Forces personnel deployed to United States Central Command (CENTCOM)” participated in the attacks.

“These precision strikes are consistent with the Charter of the United Nations and demonstrate the international community's commitment to defending freedom of navigation and international trade in the Red Sea,” the Canadian ministers said.

The Canadian government condemned “the irresponsible attacks by the Houthis against commercial vessels and their crews operating in the Red Sea” and said they have a “direct impact on the flow of food, fuel, humanitarian aid and other essential raw materials” around the world.



THE Houthi rebels They said five of their fighters were killed following airstrikes launched by the United States and the United Kingdom against their positions.

The Houthis also assured that they would continue to attack ships in the Red Sea despite the bombardments.
