Canadian products in Colombian gastronomy

One of Colombia's greatest allies for the importation of meat products, fruits and vegetables is Canada, but few people know the offer of this country and the benefits of its products for the sector.

Canada's Ambassador to Colombia, Tim Martin, presented how the trade relations established between the two countries have been strengthened through the exchange of different products and services.

To preserve a sample of the different products brought to Colombia, the Canadian embassy opened a training and tasting space in which chef Harry Sasson participated.

In the Colombian chef's restaurant, different dishes were prepared with beef and pork, lentils and maple syrup as the main ingredients.

In 2011, imports from Canada to Colombia reached $764 million, driven by products such as wheat and meslin, barley, lentils, mustard, pork and beef, canola, legumes , fruits, maple syrup, fish and seafood, while Colombian exports to this country reached 764 million dollars. country amounted to 807 million dollars, with products like coffee, sugar, coal, oil, bananas and flowers, this trade occurred, in large part, thanks to the FTA which entered into force 8 months ago.
