Canadian Olympic Athletes Participate in Closing Ceremony – National – Crew Member Mx

PARIS – Hundreds of Canadian Olympic athletes have arrived at the Stade de France to take part in the final spectacle of the Paris Olympics.

Swimmer Summer McIntosh and hammer thrower Ethan Katzberg carried the Canadian flag into the stadium together as the closing ceremony began Sunday.

McIntosh, of Toronto, won four medals in Paris, including three gold, and set two Olympic records, while Katzberg, from Nanaimo, B.C., won his country's first gold medal in the hammer throw.

Hundreds of other Canadian athletes arrived minutes after the duo, leading two groups entering the 80,000-seat stadium.

All Canadians came dressed in shorts and T-shirts with a dark galaxy-like pattern, with the word “CAN” written vertically on the back in white letters, and the medal winners proudly wore their medals around their necks.

The ceremony closed the Games in which Canada won 27 medals, including nine gold.
