Barril also leads the general classification after this first day, leaving Brodie Chapmanthe Australian cyclist from the Lidl Treck team in second position, and the Dutch cyclist provisionally occupying third place in the general classification, Mareille Meijeringfrom Movistar.

The multi-colored caravan of participating cyclists also received encouragement from supporters from Extremadura passing through the towns of Rubiaco, Vegas de Coria, Cambroncino, Dehesilla, Caminomorisco, Pinofranqueado, Torrecilla de los Ángeles, Villanueva de la Sierra, Hernán-Pérez, La Moheda de Gata and Moraleja, before crossing the finish line in the historic town of Cauri.

So the sword is held high, as they say, on this second day of competition on the roads of Extremadura for some of the greatest cyclists in the world, including María Reyes Murillo and Natalia Huertas from Extremadura.
