There Extremadura Feminas Cycling Tour 2024second edition of this test, began this Friday at Nuñomoral, starting point of the first stage in which the Canadian Olivia Baril, from the Movistar team, won.

Framed in the UCI 2.2 WE elite category, this international test includes the sub-23, elite and professional categories, and is organized by the Extremadura Cycling Federation in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Youth. Sports, through the General Directorate of Youth. and Sports and with the support of the Youth and Sports Foundation.

With great anticipation and a massive influx of public in the town of Hurda, the 119 riders registered for the event among the 17 teams represented, began to pedal on the roads of the province of Cáceres in this first stage, which led to travel more than 90 kilometers on a mid-mountain course, in which the Canadian Olivia Baril, from the Movistar team, won with a time of 2 hours, 27 minutes and 20 seconds at the finish line located in Coria.

Barril also leads the general classification after this first day, leaving Brodie Chapmanthe Australian cyclist from the Lidl Treck team in second position, and the Dutch cyclist provisionally occupying third place in the general classification, Mareille Meijeringfrom Movistar.

The multi-colored caravan of participating cyclists also received encouragement from supporters from Extremadura passing through the towns of Rubiaco, Vegas de Coria, Cambroncino, Dehesilla, Caminomorisco, Pinofranqueado, Torrecilla de los Ángeles, Villanueva de la Sierra, Hernán-Pérez, La Moheda de Gata and Moraleja, before crossing the finish line in the historic town of Cauri.

A route that highlights the picturesque and natural beauty of Extremadura, traveling through areas of the region that have a historical and natural heritage of great value, and which thus reinforces the objective of the Government of Extremadura to make region a preferred destination for major sporting events and the tourism associated with them.

So the sword is held high, as they say, on this second day of competition on the roads of Extremadura for some of the greatest cyclists in the world, including María Reyes Murillo and Natalia Huertas from Extremadura.
