Canadian business representatives visit Querétaro

A business delegation from Ontario, Canada, held a meeting in which visiting companies learned about the economic capabilities of the State of Querétaro and expressed interest in strengthening ties that allow them to continue promoting Canadian businesses in Mexico.

Present at the meeting were the commercial advisor and director of the Trade and Investment Office of the Province of Ontario in Mexico, José Abad Puelles, the president of the Bajío section of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico (CanChamMX), Carlos Llerena, the Secretary of State for Sustainable Development (SEDESU), Marco A. Del Prete, as well as the directors of Industrial Development and Business Development of SEDESU.

Also present at the meeting was the Trade Commissioner of the Canadian Embassy in Mexico, Fernando Baños, who highlighted that Querétaro is one of the two states that has received the most direct foreign investment from Canada, specifically aimed at industries automotive and aerospace. the latter began its growth with the arrival of the aeronautical company Bombardier.

Likewise, he assured that as an embassy they have established excellent relations with the state authorities, for which he thanked the support that has been given to companies so that they can establish themselves in the entity.

According to information from the State Ministry of Economy, as of February 2024, the state has 112 companies with capital of Canadian origin, which represent 2.6% of the national total and 6.2% of the total companies of Querétaro, which are mainly dedicated to the plastic and automotive parts manufacturing sector.
