Canadian 141 Meter Frozen Waterfall Ladder

Will Gadd climbs a frozen waterfall

the professional athlete Does Gadd climb Helmcken Falls in British Columbia, one of the steepest waterfalls in Canada.

Over the weekend, Gadd and his friends traveled up the Murtle River in Wells Gray Provincial Park, about 100 miles north of Kamloops to scale the 450-foot frozen waterfall.

Helmcken Falls is the fourth highest waterfall in Canada after Hunlen Falls in Tweedsmuir Provincial Park, Takakkaw Falls in Yoho National Park and Della Falls in Strathcona Provincial Park, all in British Columbia.

Gadd is a rock climbing guide who has climbed steep inclines including Niagara Falls, glaciers in Greenland and Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa.

However, one of his biggest dreams was to climb Helmcken Falls while it was frozen.

The first time he tried it, he was nearly killed due to a carabiner malfunction causing him to hang from a ledge for his dear life.

“I found myself suspended… 100 meters above the ground. I didn’t enjoy that experience, I had nightmares about it for years.”

The expert climber returned last weekend to climb the frozen waterfall again, and he succeeded.

This is quite a feat as almost the entire slope of Helmcken Falls never freezes completely, it is covered in brittle chunks of ice, making it one of the toughest places in the world for climbers.
