Conmebol’s idea is to play the next edition of the Copa América to be held in Ecuador with 16 teams. For this reason, the organizing committee has accelerated negotiations with the leaders of the Canadian team to finalize their inclusion.
But Canada would not come alone. There could also be the return of the Mexican team, absent since the 2015 edition.
It is reported that the administrators of the “Tri” could also ensure their participation if their Canadian counterparts confirm their participation in the America’s Cup 2024.
It should be remembered that Mexico participated for the first time in an edition of the Copa América in 1993, precisely in Ecuador, the place chosen for the 2024 edition. On this occasion, the Aztecs had an exceptional participation, even reaching the final against the Argentina team, champion of this Cup.
