For the first time in history, the Canadian government announced the establishment of limits on the number of temporary residents who will be admitted into the country. Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, revealed that this measure is taken in order to ensure sustainable growth in the number of temporary residents entering Canada.
Starting next fall, Canada will expand its tiered immigration plan to include arrivals of temporary and permanent residents. Miller said that in 2023, the country would be home to 2.5 million temporary residents, or 6.2% of the total population. However, the government intends to reduce this percentage to 5% over the next three years.
To set these objectives, a meeting with provincial and territorial counterparts as well as other relevant ministers will take place in early May. Miller stressed the importance of provinces and territories taking responsibility for the people they welcome, taking into account their specific needs and professional abilities.
In addition to the information that can be collected, it is always advisable to seek the assistance of a immigration consultant in Canada, who can conduct a more in-depth analysis of our particular case and develop a targeted immigration plan with the highest probability of success in our favor.
