Canada is forging commercial ties with Querétaro as part of the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico (CANCHAM). The head of the Secretariat for Sustainable Development (SEDESU), Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero, highlighted the importance of the presence of Canadian companies in the development of Querétaro.
Regarding foreign direct investment (FDI), the state official pointed out that in the first half of 2022, Querétaro received $25 million from Canada. Whereas for the period from 1999 to June of this year there were two thousand 301 million dollars. This positions this country as the entity’s third trading partner.
Canada has about 95 companies in the state
He also reported that in August this year, the Ministry of Economy reported 95 companies with Canadian origin in Querétaro. They represent 2.2% of the national total and 5.8% of the total number of state enterprises. Mainly dedicated to the manufacture of plastics and automotive parts.
Del Prete Tercero announced that Canada is the second destination with the highest exports from Querétaro, accounting for 2.6% of the total. Which means sales of $299.5 million; the main exported products are: refrigerators, freezers, machinery. And devices for cleaning fabrics, air pumps, tables, consoles and electrical distribution bases, among others.
Finally, he congratulated the members of this chamber for celebrating 40 years of trade with Mexico, as well as for promoting trade for the benefit of both countries.
