Monterrey.— Canadian electric car companies, particularly batteries, are interested in investing in Nuevo León due to the phenomenon of chain relocation (nearshoring), declared the general delegate of Quebec to Mexico, Stéphanie Allard-Gomez.
“From an economic point of view, there are more and more Quebec companies interested in doing business in Nuevo León,” he stressed.
“Quebec has a very significant economic strength in the electric vehicle sector, particularly in the battery sector, so business will increase in this sector in particular and in the manufacturing sector in general.”
Nuevo León, an industrial hub in northern Mexico, has attracted the attention of the auto sector since Tesla announced last February that it would open its largest factory in the world in the state with hopes of producing a million vehicles electricity per year and an investment of more than 5 billion dollars.
Although Tesla tycoon Elon Musk warned last Wednesday that projects had been slowed by concerns over high interest rates, as well as the outbreak of war conflicts, such as those in Ukraine and Gaza.
