The PGWP (Post Graduation Work Permit Program) is the permit that gives foreigners the opportunity to work in Canada after graduation. These permits typically last between eight months and three years, depending on the program.
On this occasion, the Canadian government announced that some PGWP holders will be able to apply for a new open work permit. In other cases, they will be able to extend the authorization they currently have. Normally, PGWPs are single cases, so if you want to renew it, this is your chance.
If your permit expires between October 2 and December 31, 2022, you should check that your address is up to date and that your passport is valid until at least April 2024. If you meet these conditions, you only have to wait for the mail in part from IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada), which will allow you to renew your PGWP.
On the other hand, if your license expires on the dates mentioned above, but you need to update your address or passport, the process will be different. All instructions will arrive at your email address. But be careful, because in these cases, you will only have two weeks to complete the update process.
Finally, if you are a PGWP holder and for some reason you cannot update your data, it is best to request an appointment at Official page from the Government of Canada for the details of your case.

If you do not receive a message from IRCC by mid-September, it means you are not eligible to extend your PGWP through this process. If this is your case, we advise you to make the request directly. on line so that you have the opportunity to verify your information.
