Brandon Belt received good news from the Toronto Blue Jays. The Canadian team has made changes to its roster and activated one of the team’s most important players from the disabled list. The change takes effect today, the day the Toronto Blue Jays play their last game at the Miami Marlins.
Power bat returns to Blue Jays roster
Brandon Belt returns from the 10-day disabled list for the Miami Marlins’ final home series game. Belt will be the designated hitter and third in the Blue Jays today. Prior to his injury, Belt was one of the best hitters on the team and undoubtedly the most experienced. The 35-year-old veteran is hitting .263 this season with 4 home runs and 16 RBIs.
In order to have room to activate Belt, the Blue Jays dropped rookie Spencer Horwitz, who made his debut last weekend against the Texas Rangers, at Triple-A. Horwitz was able to string together his first hit in the Majors, his first RBI and his first run scored in those four games he played in the best baseball in the world.
