Zacatecas, Zac.- This October 18 marks the 200th anniversary of the declaration of Zacatecas as a federated state and the installation of the first constituent congress, which is why the 64th legislature held a solemn session to commemorate this historic event.
After the arrival at the solemn audience of the President Magistrate of the Superior Court of Justice of the State of Zacatecas, Arturo Nahle García, the head of the Secretariat for Migrants of Zacatecano, Iván Reyes Millán, representing the executive power and the lieutenant-colonel Fernando Gallardo Martínez, representative of the Commander of the 11th Military Zone. The president of the Political Coordination Council, Deputy Gabriela Evangelina Pinedo Morales, on behalf of the Legislative Power, recalled the origins of the Zacatecas Parliament.
Pinedo Morales highlighted that the Zacatecas Provincial Council marked the beginning of the transition to a federative entity. This political development culminated with the creation of the Constituent Congress on October 18, 1823, guaranteeing the rights to liberty, equality and security. The deputy stressed that federalism, sovereignty and constitutionalism are fundamental elements of the legislative and political tradition of Zacatecas. On October 19, 1823, the first constituent congress entered history, with illustrious representatives.
Nahle García emphasized that the installation of the First Congress of the State of Zacatecas, two centuries ago, constituted a political and institutional milestone. This act marked the beginning of the path towards the creation of a modern State, based on law and representing the interests of the Zacatecan population. The noble liberal and federalist generation, through their actions, gave Zacatecas an identity that continues to this day.
