President Andrés Manuel López Obrador assured that he had succeeded in reaching an agreement with the four Canadian companies that disagreed with his government’s electricity policy.
During his morning conference, López Obrador pointed out that he received the companies yesterday at the National Palace and sought to reconcile with the industries that invest in Mexico, as has been done with American investors.

“Yesterday I was with businessmen from Canada who had disagreements. (…) Personally, with the economic cabinet, we have helped four Canadian companies and solved the four problems, without any obstacle, which concerned the issues of the electricity sector,” he said.
The Mexican president recalled that there are 125 mining companies in the country and that only two of them have filed complaints because they are victims of extortion by organized crime “we are already assisting but only two”.
During the North American Leaders Summit, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with López Obrador about differences with Canadian companies over national energy policy, for which the Mexican promised to have a dialogue with them to resolve any disagreements. .
In the initial message of the Mexico-Canada bilateral meeting, the president explained that these types of disputes are due to the intense commercial relationship that exists, but also to the increase in Canadian investments in the country.
