AMLO agrees with Trudeau to handle complaints from Canadian companies in Mexico

President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said on Wednesday that he agreed with the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeaureceive Canadian companies dissatisfied with their government’s policies.

“I made a commitment with Prime Minister Trudeau to receive companies that may have outstanding issues, some disagreement with the attitude of our government, we are always open to dialogue,” López Obrador said at the start. of a bilateral meeting between the two countries in the presidential palace in Mexico City.

The president did not mention which companies it is.

López Obrador also said he discussed with Trudeau the issue of Canadian companies that operate in the electricity sector.

“We’re also looking to resolve the issues, the differences that logically arise when it comes to these economic relationships,” he said.

For his part, Trudeau said that in recent years there has been “a real deepening” of “economic, business and labor” connections and ties between the two countries.

“We will continue to talk about how we can further grow our economic alliances, our people-to-people ties, and most importantly the prosperity we both bring to the trilateral relationship in North America,” he said.

Trudeau is on an official visit to Mexico as part of the North American Leaders Summit which was held Tuesday in Mexico in the presence of the American president Joe Biden.

At the summit, the three countries avoided addressing their disputes over the trade deal USMCA. In particular, Canada and the United States have denounced the energy policy of the López Obrador government, which seeks to give the state a greater role to the detriment of private initiative.
