This new meeting of the ALCONU, under the Pro Tempore presidency of Argentina, pursues the objective of clarifying the articulation in relation to the United Nations Peacekeeping Operations (PKO).

Following this exchange, the status of the Latin American and Caribbean Cooperation Network for Peacekeeping (RELACOPAZ), created in Lima in 2022, will be approved. This is the first international institutional mechanism for cooperation in matters of peacekeeping under UN mandate.

Furthermore, it is planned to advance in the definition of objectives, strategic thinking and regional perspective on PKOs under the mandate of the UN, to which the Buenos Aires Declaration will subscribe.

As a preview, Taina revealed the focus of the day: “Regional and sub-regional mechanisms, challenges and opportunities for cooperation for peace”; “Participation of Latin America and the Caribbean in peacekeeping operations”; “Training and Technology in Peacekeeping Operations” and “Women, Peace and Security, Gender Perspectives in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations”.
